Tokina Industrial Introduces First 50X Motorized Zoom Lenses
with 2X Extender Option
Tokina Industrial Inc. has introduced the CCTV industry’s first 50X motorized zoom lens with a 2X extender option.
The 2X extender option is a built-in, internal optical design that is controlled via two wires with 12 volts to "pop in and out" of the optical path.
The focal range of a 50X lens is 10mm through 500mm. Adding the 2X extender puts the focal range at 20mm through 1,000mm. According to Glenn Wolk, president of Tokina Industrial, Inc., "Inherent in the lens production of a long zoom is that the further out the lens goes, the darker the scene illumination gets. Most lenses at 500mm would be stopped down at F-11 or F-22. However, Tokina’s new 50X lenses, even at 500mm, only stops down at F-5.6 - that’s only one F-stop past F-4.0 at 10mm. Tokina has again shown their mastery at making lenses."
Each of Tokina’s 50X motorized zoom models is available with the 2X Extender option. The 50X motorized zoom and focus ˝" C-mount lens with auto iris (TM50Z1040AIX) is the first in the 50X Series with the 2x extender. It is also available with AI and presets (TM50Z1040AIPNX), motorized iris (TM50Z1040NX) and motorized iris with presets (TM50Z1040NPNX).
The combination of a 50X zoom and focal range with a lower F-stop offers dealers and end users greater opportunities. The one-of-a-kind, affordable zoom is perfect for traffic control, airport, parking lot and military applications. Adding the 2X Extender option provides an even greater range.
